About Planet Lingua
Your Spanish language service provider
Planet Lingua was founded in La Coruña in 2000 with the aim of uniting the experience and knowledge gathered by its founding members since the nineties in the sphere of translation.
In the wake of the company's continued growth, Planet Lingua moved to its current offices in Barcelona in 2004, which cater for all the technological, infrastructural and logistic needs of a constantly expanding business. Apart from these cutting-edge facilities, Planet Lingua relies on powerful internal safety systems to guarantee information is protected at all times.
Planet Lingua's team is made up of specialists with a language, translation and expert training who work with state-of-the-art equipment and software programs. These in-house conditions allow them to undertake large-scale projects in different subject areas in the main European languages.
In line with its business ethics' code, Planet Lingua usually signs confidentiality agreements upon client request.
At present, Planet Lingua is implementing the European quality standard EN 15038 that resulted from the joint efforts of two translation company associations, the European EUATC (European Union of Translation Companies) and the Spanish ACT (Asociación de Empresas de Traducción) under the umbrella of the standardisation bodies CEN and AENOR.
This commitment to quality complies with the standards established by the different associations in which Planet Lingua participates as a member: ASTTI.
Planet Lingua offers linguistic solutions in the regional languages of Spain (Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque) and in the main European languages (German, French, English, Italian and Portuguese).
If you need a translation in any other language, please contact us.
It will be our pleasure to assist you!
Workflow
A standardised workflow is tantamount to quality.
Planet Lingua's workflow consists of six stages: analysis, translation, revision, DTP, final check and delivery.
In the first stage, the project manager analyses the original documents received in order to assign the necessary resources, both in human and technical terms, and hence ensure compliance with the quality standards and deadlines.
After this initial analysis the translation process begins. The Translation Department undertakes this task by means of CAT tools (computer-aided translation), which help improve turnaround times and ensure that terminological and stylistic coherence is maintained throughout the text. Should there be a suitable corpus, a terminology database is used during the project. The assigned translator, in addition to their linguistic and cultural background as well as a sound translation competence, always works in his or her mother tongue and specialises in the text-specific subject area.
Once the translation has been completed, the Quality Assurance Department verifies the linguistic and cultural adequacy of the translated text, i.e. it has to undergo a quality assurance process which comprises three stages: revision (bilingual check of the text), review (monolingual check) and proofreading (check on screen or paper).
Then, the DTP stage is initiated. Due to the complex formats in which documents are presented nowadays the layout of information, notes, references, text boxes, etc. must often be edited. Moreover, images with translatable text must be edited, if necessary.
The project manager completes the final check to ensure the process has been followed in a correct manner throughout the different stages and the documents are ready for delivery to the customer.
Eventually, the client receives the translated document in the requested format together with any additional information which is deemed appropriate (translator's notes, comments, etc.).
